With the sports betting industry in the United States exploding all over the country, bettors are looking for convenient ways to place bets on sports. Most sports bettors are looking for a convenient way to place a bet on sports, and using a mobile device is the best way to do that.

You can absolutely place a bet using your phone, assuming that you live in a state that has legalized online sportsbooks or mobile sports betting. A majority of the states that have legalized sports betting have included mobile betting in those regulations.

Almost all of the online sportsbooks offer mobile sports betting apps that are available for download on Android and iOS devices, which is a great way to place a bet on sports. The mobile apps work in much of the same way as the online sports betting sites, and they continue to improve.

There are some restrictions when it comes to placing a bet on sports using a mobile device, even in the states that have legalized that part of the industry. Location services must be enabled on your device to ensure that you are placing a bet within the state borders.

You will also need to verify your identity before you can create an account to place a bet on sports, and that will help determine if you are in a location that offers mobile sports betting.

Most sports bettors prefer to place bets on sporting events with their mobile devices because it is a much quicker process. Bettors are able to place bets while sitting on their couch and while watching their favorite teams play on television.

Retail sports betting is still an option, and you can always use your mobile device to place a bet while sitting at a retail sportsbook. The mobile sports betting industry has grown tremendously over the last two years, and placing a bet over the phone is a great option for sports bettors.

States need online betting

States that have legalized sports betting have done so because they are looking for additional revenue. Online or mobile betting has been a huge boost for states that have launched this form of betting and states that have not legalized online sports betting have been left behind.

A majority of the states that have legalized online betting have seen more than 90% of all bets placed via a mobile device. During the COVID-19 pandemic, online sports betting was the only way to place bets, and that provided a huge boost to these numbers.

States that have allowed remote registration have also done much better than those states that require in-person registration. In-person registration requires a bettor to visit a casino or retail sportsbook before they can complete their registration.

New York is one notable state that has not yet legalized online sports betting, and that has kept the state from becoming a leader in the sports betting industry. On the flip side, New Jersey allows mobile betting, and the state is shattering sports betting handle records each month.
