Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Whoever replaces him will have a roster stacked with talent – and still has a chance to enter the 2024-25 season as the reigning English Premier League champions.

The Reds lost at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday and are underdogs to win the 2023-24 EPL title at major legal online sports betting sites. Liverpool (71 points) is in a very tight race with leader Manchester City (73 points) and Arsenal (71) as of Tuesday; those three teams all have six matches remaining.

The previous favorite, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, decided to stay at his current club through next year, despite rumors of him coming to Anfield. Alonso’s team clinched its first Bundesliga title ever on Sunday with a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen.

So, with Alonso almost off our odds board (but not quite), Sporting CP Manager Ruben Amorim has become the significant favorite to take over for Klopp next season. These odds were developed exclusively for U.S. Betting Report but folks wagering on soccer at the best US betting sites will want to monitor this situation.

Amorim, 39, has been the boss at Portuguese club Sporting since March 2020. In 2020-21, his first full season in charge, he led the Lisbon side to its first league title since 2002. This season, Sporting leads Liga Portugal with 77 points in 29 games; with five games left the club has a seven-point lead over city rival Benfica in what has become a two-team race.

And if Amorim does depart his hometown for Anfield, Sporting can achieve a domestic double on his way out; the Portugal Cup final awaits on May 26 against Porto. A league title is the best path for Sporting to reach UEFA Champions League participation for next season; the club was eliminated in the Round of 16 in this year’s second-tier European competition, the Europa League.

We rate Amorim as the heavy favorite with -200 odds (a 66.7% implied probability).

Other Liverpool Manager Candidates

Julian Naglesmann, the former Bayern Munich manager who’s now in charge of the German national team, was second on our board at +1100 earlier this week. But reports emerged early Friday that he has extended his contract with Germany through 2026, taking him out of the running for the post at Anfield. Germany is +550 at Caesars Sportsbook to win the European title, just behind England (+330) and France (+360).

Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion is next on our board at +1100 odds (an 8.3% implied probability) followed by Thiago Motta, the boss at Serie A side Bologna, and current Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders (both at +1500, 6.2%).
