William Hill is one oldest and most powerful sportsbooks in the world, with locations in New Jersey at Monmouth Park, Ocean Resort in Atlantic City and Tropicana.
William Hill went online in New Jersey in September of 2018 and if anyone knows how important mobile betting is, it is William Hill: online it makes up 60 percent of its sports betting revenue.
Read our review below to find out how to start with online betting at WilliamHill.com.
Signing up is easy
William Hill has a similar registration to other online betting websites. Head over to WilliamHill.com and click on the link for the app. Like on all online sportsbooks you will need some type of geo-fencing application to verify your location.
Instead of a username, William Hill uses an account number as your registration. Note that you have to be a resident in Rhode Island or New Jersey to register with William Hill. You will be denied registration if you are not a resident of one of those two states.
Available Deposit Options
The main advantage of legal, safe New Jersey online betting sites is that you can use a lot of options you couldn’t when playing on one of the overseas sites before legalization. These include credit cards, bank transfers, and even cash.
One of the few setbacks with William Hill is that you have to deposit a minimum of $20. A lot of the other companies are keeping that number at $10 or sometime as low as $5.
- ACH: This will be the best way to get withdrawals. So if you set this up for your deposits, it will make it seamless when you hit it big and want to take some money out.
- Debit or Credit Cards: William Hill is accepting Visa and Mastercard for now. We would think they might eventually add the other two major cards, but they do not accept them at this time.
- Prepaid William Hill Card: This works very similar to some of the other companies’ prepaid cards. You can fill it and withdraw from it with ease.
- Cash: This is another big advantage of having three physical locations in New Jersey. You can stop in and put money on your account.
As of writing this review, William Hill doesn’t offer Paypal or Neteller. This is definitely something I can see them adding in the near future as it has become a popular method with a lot of American sports bettors.
How you can withdraw your winnings
The William Hill sportsbook doesn’t have that many options when it comes to getting your money out of your account. It does not have an ACH or automatic bank withdrawal option. You have to go to a physical location to get cash or take your money on the William Hill Prepaid card.
William Hill Bonuses and Promotions
William Hill New Jersey may have one of the easiest bonus deposits on the market. Once you place $50 in sports bets, you will receive a $50 bonus. You will need the code PlayNJ50 to place in the promo box when making your deposit.
There is no playthrough, and you can bet the $50 however you would like. You must place the bets within 60 days of activating your account. They will place the funds into your account within seven days.
There are currently some really interesting football promotions going on. They have the Hail Mary Parlay promotion. If you bet a four-leg parlay of any sort on college football, you receive 15 percent on all your losses. If you are going to be betting some of the bowl games and feel like dropping a parlay, this is a great opportunity.
The Pick 6 promotion is another fun one. It has done this one a few times throughout the year, so I’m sure it will be bringing it back. You have to bet $25 or more on six NFL football games. The bettor has a chance at a $250 bonus and can win the $2,500 jackpot if you win all six bets. You do have to place these bets on Sunday.
The odds-boost promotions have become some of the most popular as far as marketing tools go. William Hill has joined in on the fun. The odds boost feature is a great way to incentivize betting on local teams and players while giving you a slight advantage.
For example, Taylor Hall may be boosted to score a goal from +120 to +220, or similar deals of the like. You will see a lot of local boosts for teams in the New York/New Jersey area.
Featured Sports, MoneyLines and Limits
William Hill offers an extensive list of sports to bet on. Because of its long-running success, it lists lines on everything. From American professional sports to lesser sports that are big in Europe. Darts, cricket, rugby, if you have a sport you like to bet on that is not popular here in the US, you can bet William Hill will have it.
From what we have seen, the lines on William Hill are just as good as anywhere on the market. Because you have to offer quality lines to stay competitive in Nevada, William Hill has good lines, and you can find great value.
The limits are par for the course, but some promotions do require a $10 or $25 bet to be eligible. Its future odds tend to leave a little bit to be desired.
Download the William Hill Mobile Betting App
William Hill has one of the longest-running mobile apps in the industry. Because it has had the app in New Jersey, it has worked out a lot of the kinks. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.
The mobile app looks identical to the website and has a nice look and is very user-friendly. The speed is really good as we haven’t seen any issues with lagging.
Live Betting and in-play options
Because of the high-speed society we live in, everyone has to have a live betting section. The mobile app makes live betting super convenient, but you can place in-game bets from the website as well. William Hill’s in-game betting is called InPlay, and it hosts all the live action on a separate page.
It highlights the price on the screen if the game is currently in play. Once you click on the game, you can find out if it has a spread, and/or a moneyline option. It does not offer spreads or moneylines for every game, but most big events will give you both options.
Join the William Hill Rewards program
The William Hill Sportsbook does offer a free reward club. It is currently only available in a few states, but it will be nationwide very soon. This is a big advantage, as FanDuel and DraftKings currently do NOT offer a rewards system.
You get one point for each dollar on traditional bets and all the way up to five points per dollar on parlay bets. Basically, the higher the risk of the bet, the more points per dollar you receive. You can turn in your points.
Connect with their Customer Service for questions
Because of its experience in the industry, William Hill has just about seen it all. It offers a great FAQ section so that most questions that New Jersey bettors have can be answered. You can search for your problem, and the FAQ will find similar questions and answers.
Live support is also available for immediate answers if you can’t find what you are looking for. Because they are international, they also offer a 24/7 phone line. Again, this is an option you won’t find at a lot of the other competitors.
The option of e-mail, for non-urgent questions, is also available. Also, the Sports Betting 101 section is also good for new and veteran bettors. It has a glossary of terms, rules, and other helpful information.
Pros of betting with William Hill
William Hill’s 80-plus years of experience is a huge plus for New Jersey bettors. Its platform is user-friendly and very easy to navigate. The 24/7 customer support and FAQ page are some of the best on the market.
If you are a line shopper, William Hill is probably the place to go. Since it has to stay competitive overseas and in Nevada, its pricing is usually about the best you can find.
What about the cons?
There are not a lot of bad things to say about William Hill. It currently doesn’t have any huge deposit bonuses since there is a $50 cap on the welcome bonus. Deposit and withdrawal methods are also limited when compared against the other industry leaders.
We imagine it will eventually add the Paypal-like options, but it is currently not an option. Also, you cannot withdraw straight to a bank account like you can with so many of the others.
William Hill is a decent option for the experienced sports bettor. While their online sportsbetting website doesn’t have a lot of promotions, the site is good enough to provide you with . Its lines are the best on the market for your money, and plenty of live betting options are available if you like the fast action.
While the deposit and withdrawal options are limited, there are plenty of ways to get money into your account, and it really isn’t a big factor. If you are a bettor who likes straight betting and wants the best price, William Hill is the sportsbook for you.
