About the Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are based in Miami and play in the NFL as members of the American Football Conference, East Division. Home games are played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens in the northern suburbs. The Dolphins’ headquarters is Davie in Florida. The Dolphins were the first professional sports team in Florida and out of the four teams in the AFC East division Miami Dolphins are the only team that are not charter members of the American Football League.
Their current manager is an executive named Chris Grier. He was gradually raised through the ranks, starting as an area scout, then a national scout, then the assistant director of college scouting, then director of college scouting, before finally becoming general manager in 2016.
Joseph Robbie founded the Miami Dolphins. In professional football club history, no team has ever advanced as quickly as the Miami Dolphins did. Over a six-year period, running from 1966-1972, they rose from nothing to stardom. It was in 1966 that they began their life in the pro football leagues as the ninth team in the American Football League. Six years later, they became the only NFL team to play a perfect season.
Then in 1972, the team won the eastern division’s AFC cup and then the AFC championships. They then went on to defeat the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII, with a score of 14-7. They completed this with a perfect record of 17-0-0.
Historically, the Dolphins have had a great time since the 1970s. They have managed to win 13 AFC Easter division titles and then 5 AFC titles. Their first home game was the Orange Bowl held in Miami. They had a lot of fans, with 74,961 ticket sales that season. Robbie, the founder, had always dreamed of the team having their own stadium and on August 16 1987, he unveiled the enormous 73,000-seat stadium for the team. The stadium went on to host Super Bowl XXIII two years later and the Super Bowl games in 1994, 2006 and 2009.
This versatile player held and still holds dozens of record in the NFL. They are mostly associated with the quarterback position that he played. He has never been in a Super-Bowl winning team but he is known as one of the greatest quarterbacks and passers in the history of the game. He is remembered well for his powerful arm, which allowed him to execute quick releases. Dan Marino helped the Miami Dolphins be contenders in the postseason in a very consistent manner. He led the team to the playoffs a record ten times and then to Super Bowl XIX.
This Pro American Football Player was inducted into not only the College Football Hall of Fame, but also, the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was a member of the team when the Dolphins went in to have that perfect season back in 1972. He also was in the team when they won the Super Bowl in both 1972 and 1973.
Jason Taylor is known for having the most forced fumbles of all time in the game with 47. He is tied in the NFL fumble recoveries record with Jim Marshall who had 29. He is placed Seventh on the all-time career sack list. He had about 139.5 sacks and is the all-time winner in the fumble return touchdowns category, with six.
