It should be a cracker at Anfield on Monday night as Liverpool take on Arsenal in the latest round of the Premier League soccer fixtures.
Monday night soccer action from Anfield looks set to be a thriller with home side and defending Premier League champions Liverpool taking on the visiting Arsenal in a high-octane, high-profile match between two unbeaten teams in the new campaign.
LIVERPOOL RELENTLESS IN TITLE DEFENCE
Despite being made to work hard for a 4-3 win over Leeds in their title defence opener, Liverpool have continued where they left off last season, posting convincing wins over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before dispatching Lincoln City with aplomb in the EFL Cup.
Granted on the latter occasion they fielded a team of youngsters, but they were far too good for the League One side even with a number of top players rested and the Reds’ big guns will be back in the fold on Monday night.
Arsenal on the other hand also come into this match unbeaten and the Gunners are beginning to gel under the care of Mikel Arteta. FA Cup success last term and victory over Monday’s opponents in the Community Shield this campaign has served as a launchpad for Arsenal who are unbeaten thus far with League wins over fellow London clubs Fulham and West Ham in their first two matches before lowering the colors of Leicester City in the EFL Cup.
GOALS GALORE EXPECTED
This should be a closely fought match, but Liverpool have the best of results against their Monday night soccer opponents with the last four matches between the two sides at Anfield going the way of the home club and the Reds have netted more than three goals per game in their last eight home league matches.
Indeed in their last five home tussles with Arsenal they have netted at least three times against the Gunners although the visitors have looked more assured at the back now than has been the case previously. However Arsenal haven’t won at Arsenal since 2012 and the visitors will need to be at their best at both ends of the pitch.
That said, we still expect Liverpool to be up to the task of breaching the Londoners’ rear-guard in this match.
CARDS, CARDS, CARDS
Last term Arsenal collected enough yellow and red cards to be finish joint-first in the unwanted disciplinary charts table and have picked up three yellow cards in their three matches thus far. In a high-octane match there’s likely to be a few meaty challenges which could draw the wrath of the referee.
BIG MATCH VERDICT: LIVERPOOL v ARSENAL BETTING TIPS
This should be a thriller with goals at both ends although Liverpool should extend their impressive record over the visiting Gunners by taking all three points.
