See the game details and live odds: Pittsburgh Penguins at Tampa Bay Lightning, Tue 10/12
It’s the first night of the 2021-22 NHL season. Exciting times. The Lightning are coming off back-to-back Stanley Cup championships, and are luckily getting to face an injury-depleted Penguins team in the opener.
Pittsburgh will be playing without all three of Sidney Crosby, Evegni Malkin, and Jake Guentzel in this one. They already would have had little margin for error against an elite team such as Tampa Bay, and an upset now seems especially unlikely without those guys in the lineup. Even more so considering they’re playing on the road.

The Lightning have lost some of their depth from last season, but their top lines remain intact. Some third-line departures aren’t enough to get excited about the Penguins. The Lightning have been something of a juggernaut in recent seasons, and we don’t see any reason to believe they won’t start off their quest for a 3-peat with a bang.
Even at a somewhat steep price, take Tampa on the money line.
