The 2020 American Gaming Association Sports Betting Executive Summit is set to take place in March, and it has a terrific list of speakers lined up to talk. NBA commissioner Adam Silver will headline the summit, and the meaning of his message could shape the sports betting landscape in the coming years.
The AGA Sports Betting Executive Summit will take place from March 16 through March 20. MGM National Harbor in Fort Washington, Md., will be the host location for the summit this year.
As the sports betting industry has continued to grow in the United States, the four major professional leagues in the country have all had some decisions to make. The National Basketball Association, led by Silver, has been one of the leaders in trying to find a way to integrate sports betting into the sport.
Silver and the NBA have not shied away from trying to get sports betting legalized in states throughout the country, and it continues to strike deals with industry leaders. The NBA believes that legalizing sports betting takes away some of the illegal activities that happen in sports betting.
Impressive List Joins Silver As Speakers
Yahoo Sports, FanDuel, and the National Hockey League will all have representatives take the stage to deliver speeches at this event as well. Yahoo Sports was one of the first major media companies to jump into the sports betting industry, and it is planning on discussing some of its new and established partnerships at the summit.
Yahoo and MGM Internationals have a multi-year deal that allows Yahoo the chance to offer sports betting games through its mobile app.
FanDuel is one of the leaders in the sports betting industry, and it continues to grow each month. FanDuel established itself as one of the leaders in Daily Fantasy Sports, but it has gotten into the sports betting scene of late.
FanDuel CEO Matt King is set to take the stage during the three full days of speakers.
The National Hockey League has resisted the sports betting industry for quite some time, but it does appear that things are starting to change a bit. Bill Daly, the NHL’s deputy commissioner, will also speak at the Summit, and it will be interesting to compare his speech with that of Silver’s.
The National Hockey League has also been forming partnerships with sports betting companies of late.
Who Can Attend?
The Sports Betting Executive Summit is by invitation only and is generally reserved for some of the leaders in the sports betting industry. Sports betting companies will send all of their top executives to the summit, and professional sports will send representatives as well.
Even though the American Gaming Association only issues a select number of invitations to this event, there will be opportunities to view the speeches or read transcripts from some of the speakers at this huge event. There are other opportunities offered by the AGA throughout the year, but this is its biggest event that is reserved for industry leaders.
