It Took Awhile, But Oklahoma Opens Golden Mesa Casino

It started to feel like the Golden Mesa Casino in Guymon, Okla., would never open, but that is no longer the case. The Golden Mesa Casino recently had its grand opening in what was quite the celebration that was almost 10 years in the making.

This new casino will give gambling fans in the state of Oklahoma a chance to play a large number of electronic games and table games. The Golden Mesa Casino is also hoping to bring a large number of visitors to the area, and they are planning on offering top-level entertainment at their brand new facility as well.

The Shawnee Tribe is the group that is behind the new Golden Mesa Casino, and it was a monumental day for that tribe as well. The Shawnee regained tribal status in the year 2000 and then began working on acquiring land to build this brand new facility.

Early estimates suggest that there are more than 175 new jobs created by the Golden Mesa Casino, and the city of Guymon expects to bring in more than $30 million in revenue each year. Many of the jobs will be given to members of the Shawnee Tribe, but there are positions open to the general public and residents of Guymon as well.

Grand Celebration

The ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony was a celebration for residents of Guymon as well as leaders of the Shawnee tribe and other tribes around the area. The grand opening took place on Sept. 12, and there was a reception immediately following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Chickasaw Nation governor Bill Anoatubby was one of the main speakers at this event and recognized almost all of the key figures that were instrumental in getting this process complete. Guests were then able to enjoy some treats from local caterers before spending the day trying out all of the new machines that are at the Golden Mesa Casino.

The Shawnee Tribe was thankful for the county and local community of Guymon for being so welcoming and helping get this process up and running.

Plenty Of Options

The Golden Mesa Casino features over 600 electronic games that are all up and running, and they are expecting to have close to 10 table games for customers to enjoy. Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em and Blackjack are going to be two of the featured table games at the Golden Mesa Casino.

This 20,206-square-foot facility has plenty of other amenities and restaurants on-site for customers to enjoy. The casino is open 24 hours a day, and a few restaurant options open each day at 7 a.m. before closing late at night.

The designers of this facility have built in plenty of room for expansion, and the Shawnee Tribe could choose to offer more electronic games, or wait and use the extra space for a potential sportsbook. The Golden Mesa Casino has yet to announce its entertainment lineup for the rest of 2019, but they are expected to have some terrific offerings.

The Panhandle finally has a casino to call its own, and this is one of the biggest ones in the state.
