You can argue about it if you want, but Taylor Swift is the biggest music star in America and possibly the world — bigger than Beyoncé, bigger than Harry Styles, bigger than BTS. We could say the 32-year-old, who’s been a presence on country and pop radio for half her life, is having a moment. But that moment has lasted for over a decade.
And with the sales success of her new album “Midnights” and the Ticketmaster ticket demand dilemma with her upcoming tour, USBettingReport.com decided to look at the favorite Taylor Swift album, prior to “Midnights,” in each state.
If you there was online sports betting on top Swift albums, we’d have you covered.

Folklore Dominates List of Favorite Albums
The winner was “Folklore,” the first of Swift’s two low-key pandemic albums, released in July 2020. After the perfect pop concoctions of “Me!” and “You Need to Calm Down” on Swift’s 2019 release, “Lover,” “Folklore” was a subdued, introspective work. Hit singles off the album included “Cardigan,” “The 1” and “Exile.” “Folklore,” perhaps due to its own recency bias, is the favorite Taylor Swift album in 22 states.
Seven states chose “Lover” as their favorite. In addition to the pop hits mentioned above, the title track showcased a harmonizing Swift, with a song that might have fit on a 1960s Shangri-Las album — if it had a darker edge. Swift also wrote a touching song for her ailing mom, “Soon You’ll Get Better,” with background vocals by the Chicks.
Up next with six states choosing it No. 1, is the 2014 release “1989, commemorating the year of Swift’s birth in her 25th year. “Blank Space,” “Out of the Woods,” “Bad Blood” and “Wildest Dreams” alone would make this one of the great pop albums of the last 10 years, but it also has “Shake it Off,” which may be the catchiest earworm in the Swift catalog.

Three Different Albums Favored in Five States
Three Swift albums tied with five states making it their top choice. The best of the three — yeah, I’ll say it — is 2012’s “Red” (now re-recorded in a Taylor’s version release), which featured the title track, “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “All Too Well,” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” This was the album that cemented Swift as a crossover artist.
The second of three five-staters is 2020’s “Evermore,” the second of Swift’s unplugged pandemic albums. More than just “Folklore” leftovers, the album was also a huge success with hits such as “Willow,” “Coney Island,” “No Body, No Crime” and “Champagne Problems.”
Third is the 2017 release “Reputation,” which is probably Swift’s weakest album, but would be a solid effort for almost anyone else. And mark this down, it’s going to start sounding better as time goes on.
But Swift was breaking up with her record label at the time and that’s harder to write songs about than breaking up with a boy. And the gossip rags were having a field day at her expense and she was just a tad cranky. Hit singles off “Reputation” included “Look What You Made Me Do,” “. . . Ready for It?,” “End Game” and “Delicate,” but I’ve always been partial to “Getway Car.”

Methodology
USBettingReport.com utilized Google Trends to determine the most searched Taylor Swift album in each state of the United States.
The following albums were included — “Fearless,” “Speak Now,” “Red,” “1989,” “Reputation,” “Lover,” “Folklore” and “Evermore.” Her debut album “Taylor Swift” was left off due to inability to differentiate data and the most recent “Midnights” due to recency bias in the data.
After completing the trends over the past 90 days, six albums were determined to have at least one state with it as their favorite Taylor Swift album.
