College Basketball Star Drew Timme Signs NIL Deal with Sportsbook

NIL is merging with the gambling industry as Gonzaga forward Drew Timme has become the latest athlete to partner with a gaming conglomerate. Northern Quest Resort & Casino announced it had signed Timme to a NIL deal.

The Gonzaga star will advertise for the casino and sportsbook in a way that is sanctioned by the NCAA. The casino will also heavily support Gonzaga men’s basketball.

Revolutionary NIL

NIL and the casino industry merging this quickly into this new era of college athletics is a sign that there is crossover ability. Timme is the perfect athlete to mark the beginning of NIL and gambling because he dominated the college basketball landscape.

Timme entered the season as the favorite to win the Naismith College Player at +500. In the preseason sportsbook rankings, he edged Kofi Cockburn (+800) of Illinois and Paolo Cockburn of Duke.

Kalispel Tribal Economic Authority Chief Operating Officer spoke to the local media outlets following the announcement of the deal. He said: “We have been big supporters of Gonzaga basketball for a long time. This is just another opportunity to deepen the relationship. We are proud to partner with Drew, and we are looking forward to cheering on the Zags as they make yet another exciting run for the national championship.”

Timme nearly averaged a double-double last season with 19 points and seven rebounds per game. Gonzaga was defeated in the national championship, and they are favored to return to the big game once again.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Bulldogs opened the year as the favorites to prevail in March. They were +650 in the future odds because of their depth and experience throughout the roster.

Timme also spoke following the partnership news, and he was elated about the opportunity.

This is literally a whole new ballgame for us as student-athletes, with amazing new opportunities available for us to earn income during our college careers. I was excited when Northern Quest approached me with the idea of a partnership. They’re a strong brand in the Spokane community, and they have been great, long-time supporters of Gonzaga basketball.

Sports betting at Northern Quest

It’s believed that Timme will play a role in sports betting at Northern Quest. However, the exact layout is not set, and more research will be conducted to see what complies with NCAA regulations.

Sports betting at Northern Quest was expected to begin in October, but delays have pushed back the launch. The casino is hoping to have kiosks running by the end of November.

Northern Quest will also launch a mobile app that can be utilized anywhere on the property. When sports betting launches, it’s expected that many bets will be placed on the Bulldogs to win it all in March.
