College football is back. Well, for a few weeks, at least. The bowl schedule kicks off Friday morning when Miami (OH) & UAB meet in the Bahamas and concludes with the national championship game in Los Angeles on Jan. 9. In between, there will be upsets, unpredictability, and occasional craziness – experienced both on the field, and by sports bettors wagering on the games. What better way to start all that than with $2900 in promo codes?
Indeed, betting on bowls can be something of a challenge due to opt-outs, early NFL declarations, coaching moves, injuries, and just plain old disinterest on the part of players who don’t want to be in Detroit or Shreveport this time of year. But no worries – we’re here to help by identifying better games and more favorable lines to incorporate into your bowl betting strategy.
Here are four games to start with Friday and Saturday, all featuring lines from top legal and licensed U.S. sportsbooks, beginning in the mecca of bowl season – Orlando.
$2900 In Promo Codes: Cure Bowl – Troy vs. Texas-San Antonio
We’re not lying when we say this: What an incredible game to help kick off Thursday’s opening day of bowl season. Troy and UTSA are 11-2 with a spot in the College Football Playoff Rankings. The Trojans sit at No. 24 while the Roadrunners neighbor them at No. 25. Both programs head to Orlando on 10-game winning streaks. These teams are better than many mediocre major-conference squads playing in more prestigious bowl games.

Troy is a 2-point favorite, according to Caesars Sportsbook, while UTSA is a nearly even-money underdog at +110. Both have been excellent against the spread, with the Trojans covering nine of their last 11 and the Roadrunners covering four of their previous five. UTSA, who took Houston to the wire and went into halftime tied with Texas, has a quarterback averaging 297 yards per game in Frank Harris and presents an offense that will give even a good Troy defense trouble.
Pick: UTSA +2 at Caesars Sportsbook
Fenway Bowl: Louisville vs. Cincinnati
Welcome to the game with no head coaches. Cincinnati will be under interim head coach Kerry Coombs due to Luke Fickell’s departure for Wisconsin, while Deion Branch will head man Louisville after Scott Satterfield left to take the job at Cincinnati. The best player on either team also won’t be there, given that Cardinals quarterback Malik Cunningham has opted out.

Louisville is a 1-point favorite, according to DraftKings, while Cincinnati is an even-money +100 to pull the upset. The Cardinals have covered five of their last seven, though it did so with Cunningham, running back Tiyon Evans, and top receiver Tyler Hudson. All three of them will sit out of the bowl game. Cincinnati has been terrible against the spread, covering just one of its last eight. Still, it’s tough to bet against a stout Bearcats defense facing a Louisville attack devoid of its primary skill players.
Pick: Louisville +1 at DraftKings
L.A. Bowl: Fresno State vs. Washington State
Fresno State might be playing in a much more prominent bowl game had star quarterback Jake Haefner been healthy the entire season. The Bulldogs started 1-4 with Haefner on the shelf with an ankle issue. Since his return, however, they’ve roared to eight straight wins and a Mountain West Conference championship. They’ve covered the spread in six of their last eight games, and the Bulldogs are a 3-point favorite at BetRivers.

Washington State, a +125 underdog, lost to its schedule’s five most successful teams. Although, the Cougars have covered the spread in four of their last five. While Wazzu has a very capable QB of its own in Cameron Ward, the Cougars rank 80th in the FBS in total defense – a bad sign against an opposing quarterback completing 73% of his passes and a foe with motivation on its side.
Pick: Fresno State -3 at BetRivers
Las Vegas Bowl: Florida vs. No. 17 Oregon State
The first Power 5 matchup of this bowl season takes place on Saturday in Sin City, where Oregon State is a 10.5-point favorite over Florida at BetMGM. Why is Vegas favoring the Beavers so heavily? The Gators will be without star quarterback Anthony Richardson, who opted out to prepare for the NFL Draft. Additionally, right guard O’Cyrus Torrence, a first-team All-American, will sit out. But even with those guys, +290 underdog Florida lost to Vanderbilt late in the season.

Oregon State (9-3) closed by winning six of its final seven games, including an impressive 38-34 win over No. 15 Oregon. The Beavers finished the regular season with an 83.3% cover rate, the second-best number in college football. Despite Florida’s lackluster season, the Gators went 5-1 ATS against ranked teams and covered four of its final five games. Still, UF’s roster has changed drastically since November.
Pick: Oregon State -10.5 at BetMGM
