The Warriors will open their season against the Lakers on Tuesday night, and we think they’re primed to pull the upset.
Los Angeles turned over practically their entire roster this offseason. In fact, only three guys from last year’s team are back for this campaign. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Wesley Matthews. That’s it. Everybody else is new, and it’s going to take a while for all these new pieces to click.
This is the first time James, Davis, and Russell Westbrook are taking the floor together for a long time, and we don’t expect it to look seamless right away.
The Lakers are going to have very real spacing issues on offense, and not all of their new pieces seem like perfect fits. Golden State will be looking to make a statement here after their embarrassment in their high-profile opener last year.
Remember, the Warriors finished last season absolutely on fire, and they’re running it back with a group of guys who have great chemistry together. The Lakers simply can’t say the same.
Golden State has a very good chance to win outright, but grab the points to be safe in what could be a game that goes down to the wire.
