Game details: Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros, Fri 10/8
The Astros picked up an easy win over the White Sox in Game 1 of their ALDS series on Thursday, and they should be able to replicate that success on Friday.
For starters, they’ll have Framber Valdez on the mound, who is coming off a great season in which he had a 3.14 ERA. Valdez certainly isn’t afraid of the big stage, either. He pitched 24 innings in the playoffs last year and had a stellar 1.88 ERA. The lefty should be quite comfortable.
Houston had arguably the best offense in baseball this season, and they’ve now scored at least six runs in four straight games, so they should be able to get to Lucas Giolito. Chicago played a ridiculously easy schedule to end the year, which did them a disservice. It definitely didn’t sharpen them for the top competition of the playoffs. They also didn’t play that well down the stretch. The White Sox were pretty much a .500 team for the last couple of months.
