MaximBet’s Doug Terfehr: “Our commitment is to build the ultimate sports betting lifestyle brand”

This weekend the team behind MaximBet is throwing a VIP Halloween Party in Denver, with artists like Cheat Codes and Fat Joe performing. According to maxim.com, guests should be looking forward to “this year’s biggest and most exciting Halloween parties”.

While we all love a good VIP party, what we are really interested in is Maxim’s betting brand, MaximBet, which launched in Colorado earlier this year. We reached out to VP of Marketing Doug Terfehr to learn more about who they are and how they see themselves competing with the other sports betting brands that have launched in the U.S. during the last 3 years.

What prompted you to launch MaximBet in Colorado, and when can we expect to see MaximBet in other states like Indiana and New Jersey?

Terfehr. Colorado has been very progressive in terms of sports betting, which prompted our initial interest to debut there. Plus, Denverites are extremely passionate sports fans so we knew that they’d be one of the most excited regions to experience all MaximBet has to offer.

In terms of what’s next, Indiana, Iowa and New Jersey are all set to launch in the next several months.

What is MaximBet’s unique selling proposition? What are the “real-life rewards” that you are promising to award your bettors with and how does it align with the overall Maxim brand?

Terfehr. MaximBet is truly the first lifestyle sports betting brand. We are committed to providing our players with rewards and money-can’t-buy experiences most books do not.

We have a massive Halloween party coming up this Saturday in Denver, the MaximBet Maxquerade, to celebrate our launch in Colorado. We are joining forces with Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist Fat Joe and the multi-platinum electronic DJ trio Cheat Codes to give Denver the best and most exciting Halloween party imaginable.

We will also have costume contests, flight simulators, an open bar, food, a fully-immersive contest environment, over $40,000 in prizes from Xboxes to VR headsets, free MaximBet merchandise, jaw-dropping performances from the Circus Foundry, and so much more.

MaximBet parties are going to be truly epic experiences for our players. And MaximBet will be more than events and parties. It’ll include driving experiences in Ferraris, learning to fly a fighter jet, or going on a wine-tasting sunset cruise,  as well as redemption for merchandise, the best-rated bourbon according to Maxim, and so more.

How has your NIL campaign been received with the wider industry and local female athletes in Colorado?

Terfehr. Our NIL offer has been tremendous. We wanted a way to really connect with the local Colorado community when we launched there, and saw this as a great opportunity to give back to the student athletes.

The athletes that have joined so far are loving the opportunity to engage with their followers and we’ve received interest from athletes far outside Colorado, both male and female, looking to join the team. We are excited to host some of our athletes as VIPs at our upcoming MaximBet Maxquerade party in Denver.

How does Maximbet fit within the other brands in the Carousel Group portfolio? Are you targeting a different type of sports bettor with this brand?

Terfehr. MaximBet is the focus for Carousel Group right now, as the momentum around the brand is exciting and there is so much opportunity. Our efforts are 100% focused on building the best lifestyle sports betting brand in the business. MaximBet, through its partnership with media juggernaut Maxim, is able to provide its users with advantages other brands cannot.

Coupled with a strong book featuring great props, aggressive lines and a wide range of sports, we believe MaximBet will very soon be a leading sportsbook.

What do you hope to achieve with the parties and events that are tied to signup offers?

Terfehr. Sports fans who like to bet can receive “deposit bonuses” in many forms from sportsbooks, but no one is offering a party with celebrity performers and opportunities to win great, real-life prizes. With a company like Maxim that is known for hosting tremendous parties and being experts on lifestyle, our players are realizing very quickly what the difference is in MaximBet.

For example, MaximBet is giving fans a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles in February for The Big Game, plus tickets to the weekend’s exclusive Maxim Party, plus free flights, hotels and spending money valued at $50,000. I don’t know of any other sportsbooks that are doing that on a regular basis like we are for our players.

What are your plans for 2022 and beyond?

Terfehr. Grow and stay true to our commitment to build the ultimate lifestyle brand in the industry. We are excited to launch in more regions as more states continue to legalize sports betting, but for now, we are heads down working day and night to make sure that we give players the best experience possible, ensuring an unparalleled, top shelf guest experience each time they play.
