Bayern Munich has been dethroned as champions of Germany.
The megaclub won the previous 11 Bundesliga titles, an unprecedented run of dominance even by Bayern standards. And the club is in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League, with +275 odds to win it at BetMGM Sportsbook as of April 19.
But that run of championships in Germany ended last weekend, and that’s a factor in the announcement this year that Bayern and manager Thomas Tuchel will part ways at the end of this season. Se USBettingReport.com developed odds for who will replace Tuchel as the leader of Bavaria’s top club.
Odds To Be Next Bayern Munich Manager
Bayern Munich Manager Odds: The Favorites
Bayer Leverkusen clinched its first Bundesliga championship on Sunday, with five matches to go. The club had such a big lead that some US sports betting apps took futures odds off the board well before then. Leverkusen wrapped up the title in style at home on Sunday, with a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen.
So it’s no wonder that, when we first released these odds in February, Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso was at the top of the list. But the Spaniard, a former star player for Bayern, Liverpool and Real Madrid, recently said that he is staying at the helm of the Ruhr club next season.
Recent talk has suggested that Roberto De Zerbi, the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion in England’s Premier League, has been in contact with the German club about taking over next season. That makes him the favorite. De Zerbi has +125 odds, or a 44.4% implied probability. These odds were prepared for USBettingReport.com, where we also review US betting sites.
A new candidate, former Real Madrid manager and French national team legend Zinedine Zidane, has emerged recently. He has +400 odds, or a 20% probability. Hansi Flick (+850, 10.5%) is next on our board. Flick led Bayern from November 2019 to June 2021.
We consider Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness (+1200), former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte (+1600) and Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim (+2200) longer shots. We peg the odds of any other manager moving to Bayern at +1150.
Julian Nagelsmann, Tuchel’s predecessor as Bayern manager, had been listed on our board. But it was reported on Friday that he has extended his contract to remain as the German national team boss until 2026.
What Happened To Bayern Munich?
Things seem to be normal at Der Club, as long as you don’t look at the Bundesliga standings.
Legal online sports betting sites have Bayern, aiming to be the champions of Europe for the seventh time, among the favorites in the ongoing Champions League. Bayern leads the Bundesliga with 82 goals this season, including 32 from the club’s big offseason acquisition, Harry Kane. They’re pretty much assured a top-four league finish in Germany, which would ensure their annual trip to the Champions League for 2024-25. The defending Champions League winners get an automatic berth into the group stage for the following season, so that route is available for Bayern, which is one of the last four teams remaining in this season’s competition.
So, to answer the question: What happened to Bayern Munich? As it turns out, they are mortal, after all. Thomas Tuchel knows all too well, as he’ll pack his bags soon.
